Graton Resort and Casino, the third largest employer in Sonoma County, has seen the opposite of the Great Resignation. The Covid-19 pandemic has led to labor shortages in all sectors, but hospitality and gaming have been especially hard hit. The $800 million casino opened in November 2013 in Rohnert Park with thousands of slot machines and card tables, an 8,700-square-foot events center for concerts and special events, and a dozen restaurants.It’s a simple concept, really. Seating will be as many as 800 for dinner events and 1,000-plus for shows. The new six-story, $175 million, 342,000-square-foot expansion will include a 10,000-square-foot spa and fitness center, an outdoor resort-style pool area, and 20,000-square feet of additional convention and meeting room space, for dinners, shows and special events. About 100 California companies are building the hotel, employing about 1,000 in the trades.
